Castlebury Meadows
Castlebury Meadows is a new development in Northeast Winnipeg and is a smaller subdivision near the corner of King Edward and Jefferson Street.
This neighbourhood was built around a beautiful pond with multiple walking paths that create a safe community for all families. Its close proximity to the Perimeter Highway makes it easy to get in and out of the city should you wish to escape to lake country on the weekend!
Real Estate Trends
Construction in the area started around 2015 and is now complete. You will find a variety of layouts within Castlebury Meadows such as duplexes, two-storeys, bungalows, cabovers and bi-levels with attached garages and private large backyards. The home was nicely designed with a large proportion of the homes offering lake or green space views!
Prices in the neighbourhood range from approximately $420 000 for a single family attached style home up to $900 000 for a more stately newly constructed home.
Schools & Services
The community is within the Winnipeg School Division but does not have any school within its borders.
Because this area grew faster than anticipated, the government stepped-in to expedite the build of a new dual-track school in Waterford Green. Ecole Waterford Springs School opened in January 2021 and now serves the area as an Elementary English school from Kindergarten to Grade Eight. It also provides French Immersion Programming from Kindergarten to Grade Six.
Kids in Castlebury Meadows are also allowed to attend Elementary Alternative Program from Kindergarten to Grade Six at Wolseley School.
If your child decides to stay on the French Immersion track, the middle school will likely be Ecole Stanley Knowles School from Grade Seven to Grade Eight.
Both English and French Immersion students will go to École Secondaire Sisler High School from Grade Nine to Grade Twelve.
Castlebury Meadows’s parents also have the option to send their child to French Milieu Schools. Their elementary and middle school will be Ecole Lansdowne from Kindergarten to Grade Eight and their high school option is College Churchill High School.
Post Secondary Programs
The neighbourhood is in close proximity to post-secondary institutions. Red River College Polytechnic Notre Dame Campus is a 12-minute drive from the area while the Exchange District Campus is about a 20-minute commute. The University of Manitoba Bannatyne Campus is 18 minutes away by car and the University of Winnipeg is about a 20-minute commute.
Hospitals
There is no hospital in the immediate area of Castlebury Meadows however the Seven Oaks Hospital is about 5 kilometers from the community.
Shopping
Castlebury Meadows is entirely residential but conveniently close to all the amenities you could possibly need. Tyndall Market is only minutes away on Keewatin Street and includes a Safeway. Other bigger box store options can be found in Garden City Square, Garden City Shopping Centre, Northgate Shopping Centre along McPhillips Street. These consist of a Walmart, Seafood City, the Real Canadian Superstore, FreshCo, Save-on-Foods, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Winners, Michaels, Marshalls and HomeSense, Jysk and so much more. The Maples area is also home to some independently-owned, small specialty stores like Maples India Spice House, Punjabi Grocery and Convenience Store, Lucky Supermarket just to name a few.
Entertainment & Recreation
Castlebury Meadows welcomes you with a beautiful lake as you enter, which sets the tone for much of what you will find as you tour the area. Winding sidewalks and walking paths connect the community with the central park and green spaces.The two main parks within Castlebury are Castlebury-Hazelton Park and Castlebury Entrance Park which are then divided by the lake.
Castebury-Hazelton Park is the focal point of the community and offers a playground and a great gathering place for families. There are additional small parks that are ideal to take in nature and enjoy the summer breeze such as Castlebury South Park, Hillbrook Walk and Squire Place Walk.
Little Mountain Park is an old limestone quarry that is a great spot to explore. It is only a 10-minute drive away. This park features maple trees, an aspen forest, native prairie grasses interspersed with hiking and cross-country skiing trails. It is rich in wildlife; you can often see owls, foxes, squirrels and sometimes deer too. This greenery has a large off-leash dog park, public washrooms, shelter, barbeque pits and picnic site surrounding the old quarry pits that have now formed into a scenic pond. It is really a great place to spend a summer day with your family.
Adjacent to the park is Little Mountain Sportsplex, one of Manitoba’s premiere multi-sports facilities that consists of three full-sized hockey rinks, two full-sized soccer fields, ten ultimate disc fields, 28 softball diamonds and a large clubhouse with patio and picnic area.
There are two community centers that are only a seven-minute commute from the neighbourhood. Tyndall Park Community Centre offers multiple sports programs including baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer.
Maples Monarch Community Centre houses indoor sports and has two outdoor basketball courts, two outdoor rinks, a jungle gym for children, a baseball diamond and other fields for cricket, hardball and soccer. The centre shares the parking lot with two other complexes, the Maples Multiplex Arena and the Seven Oaks Pool. The Arena operates a league-sized rink from September to March and hosts hockey and ringette practices, league games and tournaments. In the summer it is available for social events and indoor sports.
The recently updated Seven Oaks Pool offers a universal family change room, accessible washrooms, a multipurpose room, teaching pool and an indoor spray pad. The spray pad is the first of its kind in Winnipeg!

Its mission is to help to prevent illness and improve quality of life for those who develop chronic conditions. It provides a wide variety of services such as massage therapy, personal training, nutrition coaching, weight-loss clinics, arthritis and joint replacement rehab, physiotherapy, chiropractic, mental health services, online services and more.
Are you a golfer? The Players Course is a beautiful, 9-hole golf course with practice facility, restaurant and banquet rooms.
If you are searching for specialty stores or restaurants, the neighbouring areas are chalk-full with small independent cuisines and stores. Some neighbourhood favorites are Sarder Super Market, which is an Indian grocery store offering Punjabi, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Bangladesh and Middle-Eastern groceries and spices. Stop by Jas Indian Cuisine for some traditional Indian dishes or pastries or try some Filipino specialties at Lucita’s Restaurant.
